2000 - 2002 210BR questions

Thanks for the replies on the previous thread RE: outdrives.

I'm looking for advice on what things in particular I should be paying attention to as I'm evaluating used 210BR's.

Any specific features to avoid? (prev. thread mentioned corrosion probelms with B3 outdrives of that vintage, for example)

Weak points? Does (did?) SeaRay use laid-down fiberglass fabric in the hull construction, or the sprayed on "chopped" (forgive if I'm not using the correct terms..getting up to speed, slowly on current terminology) fiberglass construction?

Are there plywood / laminate areas I should be paying close attention to for rot problems?

Should I be worried about the "touch panel" electrical controls, vs. old-school toggle switches?

Any issues with the 5.0 injected powerplants of that vintage?

Any "hidden" areas I should be focused on?

I've had a I/O before, but paleolithic by even 2000 standards: an '85 Glastron with OMC V-6 power...the vintage that jacked up the entire front of the motor to trim. Great boat though, sold it whan the kids were born.

Honestly.... Those are great boats. Anything from early 90's and newer in that class were great boats. Obviously you are doing your homework and that is good. So I doubt you would make a poor purchase. Just have it looked at by a reputable mech before you buy it. And You will do fine. BTW, the bravo 3 is the drive I would tell you to go eith

Aye, there's the rub. All the decent mechanics are booked solid until mid-July around here right now, with the late (and welcome) cool weather in the Sacramento area, all the shops are backed up with de-winterizing work that would usually happen in April / May. I'm gonna be on my own in doing the eval, unless I wait until the lakes dry up in August.
