20 hour service

I belive they are supposed to pull the drive and check alignments every 100hrs or annually. But I would recommend specificly calling out what you want done to the boat and getting a hard figure before you walk away from the service managers desk. Have it in writing incase extra charges show up later.

I dont know, I specifically asked my dealer and he said really, unless you notice that you are having vibration issues or feel something needs a look at, the oil, filter, and drive fluid is all that is needed. Just get the specified Mercury fluids, keep the receipt, change them out, go boating.

I did mine myself. The dealer also told me to do it myself unless I felt something was wrong. I thought it was weird, but I see that other dealers tell people the same thing. No worries, I will be taking it in for the 100 hour service at the end of this year.

What do I think? Yikes! Did you really read that list? They make it look really nice and involved and detailed. But...once you get to the bottom, all that I got from all that for $274.15 was....an oil change! That's a joke.

btw, I love how they list what should be a line item as "oil change" as:

1)Run engine to bring oil to operating temp
2)Remove engine oil
3)Remove oil filter
4)Install new oil filter
5)Refill crankcase with oil
6)Run engine
7)Check for proper oil level

I can see how if I ever want to go into my own business, my single item "oil change" wouldn't cut it when its shown up against a 7-step process...to do the same thing. I'm surprised they didn't add in a bunch of other steps with unintelligble words and verbage, so that you wouldn't understand what you read and would be so scared, you had no choice but to pay the $274.15 to have whatever it was done!
