Engines
(2) Merc 5.0 EFI
Just forward of the port engine are (2) glass canisters with metal lids with wing nuts, and each has a line through the bottom of the hull with yellow handles.
- What are these glass canisters and should they be serviced?
- The handles are both "online" so they are open.
Are these the exhausts for the engines cooling water?
Please see the pic attached.
Thank you

Those are raw water inlet strainers. I can't tell if they are both the same size and supplying both of the engines (if you have two) or if one is for something else. They should be shut off and the covers removed periodically and the screen inside cleaned out. Make sure the valves are open before starting the engine(s) again. If you have a generator, and/or air conditioning, each will have one as well.

The one on the left is for Your generator and the right is your AC. And yes, they should be cleaned periodically. Shut the seacock and loosen the top, the strainer comes out.

Very good - Thank you for this complete answer. I will also check the generator. I have already cleaned the A/C that is under the interior step.
