1YO on boat

We found a BIG white beach towel at Target, Walmart, etc, can't remember exactly...

What we did was make a small canopy between dash and helm seat. The towel would keep the sunlight off him and allowed air to circulate. Being between the two spaces, he had just enough room to move around, roll over...

This was on a 17' Four Winns.

I don't see how you got yours to wear the jacket, mine wouldn't, would'nt have anything to do with it unless she was floating in the water!
We started calling the the jacket "a boat coat" might help

Another thing to try to get them to wear it...

Leave it at home and let them play with it. Let them put it on and take it off when they feel like it. Once they feel comfortable, it should be easier.

Also, make everyone in the family wear one till they get used to it also.

Oh I thought he was much older than 5 months there. Although I can't say that thing looks very comfy. I am assuming that is the only style they make for the little guys?

What about using the center cushion in the bow and putting them under there? I was also wondering about the cooler locker for a place to get them out of the sun. :smt017

As far as I'm aware this is the only style they make for toddlers. It has to be designed a certain way to assure the head is kept above water. It also his designed like a "onesee"<sp?> It straps around their bottom so it's almost impossible to come off. He hasn't minded it yet, but I'm sure he will fuss at first putting it on this year. He hates putting on heavy coats until he gets used to it.

The helm storage area is what I was thinking for taking a nap. I just don't know how well the air circulates through there. It seems like it might get hot. I guess I have no choice but to get a 280DA w/ a genny! As my wife and I say, "it's for the baby!"

Here's what I do. My wife would worry about where the kids could take a nap on my 230. Not a problem. Simply bring a blanket or several towels. They will find their own little nook/cranny, position the towels and take a nap. Leaving the toneau cover on works great provided that the temps aren't above 85 degrees. 12 volt fans work wonders as well. The car carrier worked as well - don't use the straps. Wearing a life jacket did not bother either one of my kids. In addition, it did not affect their ablity to take a nap.

The ultimate answer would be a cruiser with air and a generator. ....but later they will want to wakeboard/ski. So you'll need a Sundeck in addition to the cruiser.

Boating time always seems to conflict with nap time. The head supports in the child PFDs are great for propping sleeping kids up and providing a handy built-in pillow.

In my experience, there is no better kid sleep inducer than the sound of a boat engine. We frequently have to wake the kids up to take them out of the boat before we head down the road.

No CHEETOS EVER!

Boy is that ever true!!
I remember a time about 16 years ago we were in Fort Meyers on the Intercoastal. On a center console I was sitting in front of the helm with my then 2 year old son standing on the seat leaning back on my chest with my arms wrapped around him and he flat out fell asleep, standing up, at about 30 mph.
He has been on a boat since he was 3 mos old and to this day never misses a chance to go out.
Of course now he want my boat and not me with him
