Hello- First off, I enjoy reading other people's posts and many of you have some very nice vessels. I'm not sure if I even rate to post here.

Anyway, I bought a new 2011 Sea Ray 205 Sport on 22 April. I traded an 18' Glastron to step up to the 20' Sea Ray. The bad news is my new Sea Ray has been back and forth to the shop twice now and only at my house for 4 days total. I've only had her out for two quick trips. I'm having a hard time with the Dealer communicating with me on the problem and timeframe for the repair so I'm unsure when she'll be back. The warranty guy will not return my calls. The Dealer is more than an hour away so I can't just run over there to check on things. I hope she gets fixed this week so I can take the family out this weekend to continue breaking in the motor.

Anyone else have problems like this? I bought the boat in Wrightsville Beach at MarineMax.

Thanks,
Ed

Don't get discouraged Sea Ray makes a good boat, sounds like there are a few problems but once they are corrected I'm sure you'll be spending hours on the water. I does sound as if the dealer may need to take a refresher course to brush up on his customer skills though.
What year is your ZR1?

Welcome to CSR, You definitely rate to post here! Tell us what trouble you are having? It is not unusual to have a"punch list" for a new boat but it sounds like a bit more than that.

Problem is that the depth finder doesn't work. After the first fix, it became worse. I'm sure they'll make it right for me, just frustrating on the lack of communication. It's hard to run around this area without the depth gauge due to the shallow rivers and shifting sand bars around and in the ICW. Low tide even makes it more interesting. I need a reliable depth finder.

I had a 91 ZR-1 that I was racing in SCCA and NCCC for several years. I sold the ZR-1 in 2005 to get a full out race prepared vette and raced her until 2008. I got rid of the race cars and sold all the associated equipment and was bitten by the boat bug.

Welcome and congrtats on the new boat. Good luck with the issues. MM

Don't get too discouraged. This is their "busy" time. I agree, there's nothing more frustrating than the lack of communication. With that said, I'm a Vette buff too. This is a good place and if you can turn a wrench (I'm sure you can if you raced in SCCA and NCCC), you should be able to fix a lot yourself. My family used to be big in the Vette community. I miss Carlisle! Keep us posted :)

There you go the ZR1's GM Mercury Marine Engine set the ground work for pulling you into the world of boating. I've got a 92 convertible myself.
