1999 5.7 TBI fuel pressure too high

What distributor did you have and what did you replace it with? New parts or old? Sounds like your timing isn't in step with the throttle advance.

What was wrong with the original? Was it an EST ?
The parts for the EST are cheap and reliable, I'd put it back in and see what happens.

Yes, its an EST. I figured replacing a 23 year old part would be prudent for future reliability. There was nothing wrong, other than the possibility of the ignition module being bad and throwing the code 42.

Never had a DUI, thought they were a 1 wire, stand alone with a mechanical advance.

Ed,

I have the same boat/engine combination. I have owned nine since new. I have not had the same issue you are experiencing. Although, mine has always run slightly rich when cold. Let us know what you out.

Yes, it's supposed to run rich until it warms up. Mine gets worse the warmer the engine gets.
I was going to ask how you like it, but since you've had it all this time, I'm guessing you'repretty happy with it. It's a nice boat, I'm looking forward to being on the water with it.

I've pretty much exhausted all possibilities except for the ECM. I just shipped it out get tested/repaired.

does mefi-1 have a coolant temp sensor? Maybe it just thinks the engine is super cold so its dumping fuel

It does and I've replaced it already.

You are right - very happy with it. She’s never left us stranded. The only frustrating issues to this point were tracking down a shift interrupt issue and replacing a coupler to solve a persistent gimbal bearing issue. She’s taken us all over our local lakes along with several trips on the SC Intracoastal and even a trip to Fl.
