1999 454 Mag MPI just quits - videos

I know you said that you used lock washers but Loctite 924 would be the perfect application for this bolt.
Some serious shopping would be in order for it ($), but my bet is you don't ever want to take that engine apart again for a very long time, if ever.

That bolt, I do have to remove occasionally to change exhaust manifolds. Taking Playdate’s advice on making sure they don’t loosen during their service life.
Harness, injectors and pool Lenin tomorrow I hope.

I guess what I meant to say was, using that Loctite will guarantee the bolt wont come out gradually on it's own and ruin the threads and cause you to pull the head again. They will still come out easily when the time comes for manifold replacement again, when 'you' are ready, and not until.

I must have re read this 10 times to figure out what a "pool Lenin" is. Sometimes autocorrect comes up with the strangest things for a word like Plenum.

Great work on getting things back together. Really looking forward to the start up video.

Went to see my new GP doctor the other day. During our get to know each other talk, he asked me if I bruise easily, or have real thin skin and bleed easily. I said no, and he started pointing out all of my dings on my hands and arms.
I showed him a pic of the engine work, and he said "oh."

Just tell him that you would need stitches, tetanus shot and a transfusion if you were working on a 340 or smaller.;)

Are you getting spark to that engine or not

The videos say it’s running. I think the iMac is stuck, so new one tomorrow, then timing set, then run away
It looks like your TPS is low and the ECU is compensating by opening the iac to get more air in.

It could something else …but that caught my attention. Really glad to see it spinning.

That wasn’t a good test. I had to keep the throttle up so it would run. Heard no action by the IAC (sucking air). Sure enough, changed it late this pm, and it really smoothed out, and didn’t stall on closed throttle. It was stuck fully closed. Cleaned and double checked the butterflies for full closure and smooth opening. All good. Timing set in the morning, and possible sea trial, but holidays starting up, so may not get to it.
Been a very long road. Gotta call Merc, and get MMI to cut me a diploma.
As my favorite comedian says, “ I’m a pretty smart guy, I just can’t prove it on paper….”
