Just bought a 1999 420 AC and learning the boat and I can say its been quite a learning experience! Can anyone tell me what this picture is showing? It's on the port side above the battery well and before I dig too deep maybe you folks can point me in the right direction, as you can see it's disconnected on the side closest to you.

Any Help would be great!

Thanks, Ed

It looks like a charcoal filter for your head holding tank vent. If the disconnected hose is below the tank you could get an unpleasant surprise discharge in the engine room.... Good luck with your boat..

I think you nailed it! as soon as I googled it the filters popped right up! Thanks!

And yes...we have been noticing that unpleasant smell!

That would definitely stink to high-heaven when you start using the head.

It looks broken though? You may do well to have some of those fittings ready before you dig into replacing the filter. If you search around this place you can find the size of that end fitting. I wanna say it's a standard garden hose thread but I could be wrong...

Also be sure to check for the lower cost filters. Don't pay the $130 for the brand recommended by Sea Ray :)

Any recomendations for the lower cost filter ? Im do for a new one.
