I have never changed the port impeller but feel I should as it's several years old. SB is new as the housing sprung a leak and I replaced it. Problem is I'm not sure how to get to it being that it's on the underside of the engine against the stringer and the muffler is in the way to boot. Does anyone with a similar model have experience changing the impeller? Do I need to dismantle the muffler to get to it?

Thanks very much.

Can't say that I've done it myself, but at least three mechanics have been able to take it off to change the impeller. I believe they detach the bracket from the block, instead of the pump from the bracket. Hope this isn't a bum steer.

BTW - Also fly R/C

I've changed it a few times. It's definitely difficult to get to, but not impossible. I remove the whole bracket with the pump. It makes it a lot easier with just a few bolts. You have to really reach under to remove the hoses too. I hook the end of a metal clothes hanger on the hose clamp so to pull it close enough to attach the hose back on. I can get in there ok because I don't have a generator. Definitely more difficult if you do.

Yeah...looked at it this weekend testing different angles. It's going to be a pain but I really should do it so I will give it a whirl in two weeks. Thanks for the input and method suggestions.
