My current unit is running intermittently and makes a nasty electrical snapping when i do run it.......so I don't. Any tips on a good cockpit replacement?

Can't help you but I'd be interested in this as well. my 95 had an icemaker (I think) but it had been removed before i bought the boat.

Vitrifrigo makes an excellent fridge.

the cockpit fridge (or ice maker) was missing from my boat when I bought it....apparently it stopped working and the PO removed it....

as an option I decided to install a large cooler on a slide-out rack in the space.....I used a slide-out rack designed for pots and pans in a kitchen cabinet....works great....the cooler holds a lot of ice and drinks and can also keep food chilled if needed.....when not in use the cooler slides back out of sight under the cockpit galley......

Depends on your cruising lifestyle. If your gennie is the first thing to get started and last thing to get shut down then I would opt for a small dorm fridge. At $100 it's a 3 year throwaway. Ditto if you want to swap out for an ice maker. You can get a small one from SamCostco for $130 or so.

If you are a battery on the hook kind of boater then look for the least amperage draw that will fit. When you find it, B.O.A.T.
