My wife and I currently purchased our first boat, a 1995 Sea Ray 290 with all the toys (genset, A/C-Heat, radar, GPS, camper canvas, etc). We have it in a marina in Channel Islands, CA and have only been able to take it out a few times due to inclement weather, but we have loved every minute of it so far!

The previous owners took very good care of this one and we can only hope to keep it up half as nice as they did. It has twin 4.3LX V-6 engines w/Alpha drives with about 400 hours on them. It seems to run great and everything works.

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has this boat and what their experience has been with it? Anything I should look out for or pay special attention to during maintenance? Maybe a sweet spot for cruising to save some fuel costs :)

Thank you in advance for any advice you can share.

Considering a similar type boat as an upgrade. There is one a few miles from here for around $34,000. It's in great shape and has twin 4.3 alpha's. I like the layout better and my only concern was I couldn't find the forward cabin bilge pump? I KNOW it has one, but I couldn't find the darn thing! The rest of the boat was awesome! More space under the canvas, a table in the back AND a dinette inside. Best of all it had blue trim and blue canvas! Beats our current green anyday!! THAT alone was worth the upgrade!! :D That and a flat landing under the head!!
