Boat Info
1994 searay express 410
Engines
two 7.2 volvo engines
purchased this boat 6 mos ago from reputable marine dealer had in water and out of water survey done.
no written up issues other a leaky sea strainer for generator (i fixed the old perko)after moving boat from dealers slip to mine at same marina, noticed water in forward compartments (in salon and in front of bathroom there is NO bilges in these two compartments (per searay manual i do not see them noted) so water accumulates 6 inches high and spills over to my kitchen compartment (also no bilge) then eventually makes it to under the steps where there is a bilge w float switch.
i have done the following:
drained water into bathroom drain via wet dry vac where i discovered the bathroom drain (not shower drain) leaks underneath hits a shelf leaks into this compartment (what i would call a separate issue).
ive turned off all shore water
ive turned off all ac units (one in kitchen area one in bedroom)
yet water still comes in…
most recently working w the surveyor we drained the onboard water tanks till empty that seemed to have helped or slowed it but
two weeks later i return to boat w 6 inches of water in compartment!
this weekend, i bought a tarp and secured it over front hull and tied down so top hatch is covered and two of the port hole windows as well. i am in a covered slip but have 10’ extending out uncovered.
drained water out again
and within 1 hr have 1 inch of water!!!

another item is my anchor pulls back very very slowly just mentioning it in case.

the dealer is being helpful in getting w surveyor but its at a snails pace rather than go ballistic i reaching out to this forum

so fresh water tanks empty
fresh shore water off
both ac units off
tarp over hull
still water !!!
note:the out of water survey showed a perfect underside well taken care of with top notch paint and anodes in good shape this has always been a fresh water boat
im at end of my patience and cant really enjoy it with this issue.
it perplexing and i lost at this point.

Maybe a leaking thru hull somewhere?
was taken out of water and inspected by a surveyor and everything per him was check off as good since leak contiues and i cant see underwater i guess taking it out again is warranted ??

Not going to be able to see a leak out of the water. Need to crawl around and find every thru hull and check for leaks.

I'm guessing you posted this twice.

Here is my response to the other thread...

I chased a similar problem for what seems forever. There is a CSR thread on it I will try to find. Anyway below the floor there are spaces that are not accessible that will fill with water. The source of water intrusion is usually the hatches which should have been re-bed on your boat by now. Additionally the tarp should have taken them off the table.

What I found was the source of my leak which was frustrating to find was the radar arch. There is a seam between the side of the boat and the inside of the radar arch. What happens is that the seam has failed and water running off the canvas goes into this opening, fills the cored walkway and continues until it finds a way to drain into the bottom of the boat. Yes it is 10' away from where the water builds up but that is why it was so difficult to find.

I would think I solved it and it would rain.......everything was fine then it would rain again and flood the compartments. The amount of water produced from canvas runoff is serious.

The fix was to pull out all the old foam and reseal the entire seam with Lifetime or 4200 caulk.

BTW......Welcome to CSR!

yes i posted in 3 different areas thats hoe frustrating i am

Ya learn something every day - I didn't know that Sea Ray made a 410 Express in the 90's.
There are a lot of cavities around the bilge and living spaces that are not accessible.
These cavities can accumulate water from intrusion through delamination's and holes. Then for months as you try to keep the thing dry that water seeps out. Several on this forum have cut access holes into those cavities to get them dry.
One thing to look at is all of the scuppers and drain hoses from them.
Years ago on this forum someone had a delamination in their anchor locker and water was getting under the floor in the MSR. It took them 50 posts (it seems like) to finally figure out the situation.

thx i too had read about an anchor area issue (prob the same guy)
this is a new boat to me as i had a 32’ chris craft crowne prev. i loce this boatvthe perfect size for me i will keep pursuing a solution

Well.....in the real world they didn't make a 410 in 1994. It was a 400 EC

SR did not make a 410 in the 1990s but that should not stop a good water leak story.:)

strange as 1st owner was a dr poured lots of money into it new radar, flir camera and replaced stock motors w volvo 7.2 and put a jetski swim platform on it hydraulic 45k so the european model is intriguing i just hope i dont have to drive it on left side of lake

that is my physical boat ! mine also had factory central vacuum system and canvas carpet covers for inside and a vacuflush toilet..i have original manual i found ill double check the model# my search for leak continues this weekend i covered hull w tarp and we got lots of rain in ga so we see if its up top

Interesting on changing to Volvo. The PO's location must have been near a Volvo dealership/service center.
So, that boat is most likely a 400 Express Cruiser.
The 410 series came out in late 2000; at least I know that for a fact on the 400 vs 410 Sundancers.
The 400 and 410 are essentially the same boat with the 410 having updated configurations.
Most EC's I thought were diesel boats and they were great performing boats with excellent ride, handling, and balance. All EC's are straight drives as the engines are midship.
