1994 500DA - Secondary water pump?

On our 1994 500DA, there is a primary 24V water pump, and also a secondary 24V pump, both located in the sump area in the middle of the salon. The secondary pump is bad, in that is run and runs and never shuts off. Appears the pressure switch is bad. What is the purpose of this second pump? Just as a backup? This boat was originally equipped with a 120V pump as well, but that has been eliminated at some point in the vessels history. The 120V breaker is still there, but there is nothing wired to it.

I still have both but something isn’t right. The 24v pump just runs and runs. Need to fix that one. The 120v pump doesn’t always come on. I think there must be some sort of pressure adjustment for that one

2 pumps were installed so 2 people can shower at the same time and still have pressure.

OK, that makes sense. So it isn't imperative for that second pump to be operational for just the wife and I. I'll replace it, simply because I can't abide something not working...it bugs me till I fix it! LOL!
