1993 270DA Fuel tank removal

1. I noticed a fuel smell in my boat last weekend and found fuel in the bilge. I noticed the fuel was coming from under the tank. I removed the wood under the cushions in the mid cabin and seen fuel down between the tank and compartment the tank is in. My question is if the motor has to be removed to replace the tank, or can it be removed through the cabin? I have been searching the web for this answer and there is nothing on fuel tank removal on the 93 270da

Wow, sounds ominous! What a PITA! Maybe the fill hose/clamp is loose, and if you can access them the tank wouldn’t have to come out. Or the fuel lines coming out to engines?? Be real nice to find a loose clamp or bad hose if they can be accessed….

I checked all the lines and top of the tank where the fill and vent are and where the sending unit is and where the motor sucks the fuel out. I also put tracer dye in the tank and the only place I can see it coming from is under the tank. I put a work order in at my marina to have there mechanic look at it and see if he can find the leak. I am pretty sure it is the tank unfortunately. I'll upload some pictures later today when I go the marina after work.

Oh man, that sucks! Good to hear you checked all the obvious issues, anxious to hear what the mechanic says……

So the mechanic has been looking for an hour and can't pin point the leak. He said he doesn't think it's the tank though so that's good. It looks like it would be a nightmare to have to remove
