Newer chargers do a much better job. Your original charger was a 30 amp 3 bank model that pushed a 10 amp charge to each bank. It would sense a voltage level and reduce the charge to about 1 amp. That was still enough to burn out most batteries in two to three years regardless of their type.
Modern chargers rotate their charging rate to each of the Banks sensing where to send 30 amps of charge. In your case...it would spend most of its energy keeping your House 4 bat bank fully charged. If you were to deplete your 4 bat Bank.....the physics to recharge the Bank are four times that of a single battery. It is just something to keep in mind.
