I would like to replace the audio equipment and TV. I believe the TV must come out first in order to access the screws holding the stereo etc. The TV seems to be fastened but it could be attached by adhesive. Before I break something, I thought I might ask someone who has experience with this.

hmm... 91

can you post a picture
chances are that tv is screwed in to base and that base need to be removed (is there a screws on front of tv?)
or another option is that tv is "sandwiched" between side mounts - if so all you need is to loose a screw on side of tv (accessible from cabinet next to tv) and another option is that tv is screwed to bottom of cabinet from underside.
to remove older style stereos you need to force them out (most of the times). a lot of them were mounted using industrial strength velcro or double sided tape

I could not figure out how to attach a picture.
89 - 91 38 AC has the 3 piece stereo/video left and tv right - hanging in a cabinet above a breakfast bar. I could not find any visable screws. Positive there are none on the outside or bottom, it's laminant. I pulled a TV from a friends 97 55' - it was in a cabinet on the floor and was attached by double sided tape. It felt like it was screwed down till we got angry with it.

Hi Chris
My little 9" OEM Tube Panasonic was encased like yours in my forward stateroom. It had a rail in front that, when removed allowed for easy slide-out of the tv. Also, my vcr was held in with a HUGE span stainless steel hose clamp and rubber padding. Your entertainment system may be fastened similarly

I do know that lot's of people with boats this age have replaced their old TVs. You may want to make a post here and direct people to this post...

Welcome to CSR!

I think on your boat you need to pull out vcr first and that may give you access to mounting screws
Stereo and vcr can be mounted on double stick tape or velcro but that tv is definitely mounted using screws. Once you remove stereos you should see some screws. Not sure if that apply to your boat but on some older models wood plugs on wooden trim needed to be removed in order to remove electronics. You will need to put new plugs and stain/clear coat them.
