1990 420/440 fuel tank

Has anyone ever had to replace a fuel tank in this model? Port tank started leaking while boat was in winter storage I pulled the motor today wich was a battle in itself but getting the tank out looks like it going to be as fun if not more. Just wondering if anyone has done this and know any tricks that may make it go a little easier. This is a 1990 42’ with diesels. Thanks in advance

Have you considered having the tank lined? I think this can be done.

Basically, they empty the tank, clean and apply a barrier coat to the inside. I have not done it, but would consider it. I don’t think this is a DIY job.
