Hi

I am looking at buying a 1990 Sea Ray 24ft sundancer. The owner says it does not have shore power. Is that a hard and or expensive thing to install?

Thanks

Bruce

I would expect it to be a pretty expensive job that if you need that feature, you should find one with it already installed. The marine environment and the regulations surrounding electricity are both harsh and require expensive parts and detailed installation.

Welcome aboard! Not sure if I like a "cigarhog", I prefer to share... LOL

As Mike says, if you want to do it factory it would be expensive. Since this boat does not have the shore power option it would not have an AC breaker panel, water heater, battery charger, or refrigerator? Why do you want the shore power option?

Yep! It's not worth the trouble adding it! Buy one that already has it. There's a lot of choices out there.

LOL Cigarhog is actually a mix of 2 hobbies. Cigars & Harleys (aka H O G s). I never leave the house with only one cigar. There is always another for a friend or even a stranger if he / she enjoys a good cigar.

Where do you boat in Ga. I have been looking at boats and may have found one. I will on Lake Lanier when I finally do find the right boat.

Hi Mark:

I am in Marietta as well (east cobb). Where do you keep your boat? I will most likely be at Bald Rdige on Lake Lanier when I finally do find one.

Bruce

Yep! East Cobb as well. I moved the boat to Bald Ridge Marina in Feb, so far I really like the marina, I've met a lot of great folks.

As it happened I ended up making a deal on a Regal Valanti 240. Under survey and mechanic they found that the engine at some point had not been winterized properly and the engine had 2 cracks in it. Although it ran fine, I wanted no part of it. They are putting a new crate engine in it. After 10 days they / we are still waiting for the engine to show up. I am getting somewhat impatient. In the meantime I am still looking. I just found a Sea Ray Sorrento 250. I have never heard of that model. The deadrise at the transom is only 19 degrees. I wonder how that boat will ride in a choppy "sea"? I have dock space paid for at Bald Ridge. P E2 is the space number. What is your slip number? When I finally get there with a boat I will come and say Hi.

Survey is Sunday on the 1988 Sea Ray 25 Sorrento at Lake Allatoona. If it goes well, the boat will be at Bald Ridge on Lanier Sunday evening. "P" Dock all the way at the end facing "O" dock

Yay, good luck. Need lots of pics

I'm on L facing K, I'm easy to spot, just look for the itty bitty 240 surrounded by all the bigass house boats and other cruisers

Looks like strike 2. The 25 Sorrento had rotted strings and enough blisters on the bottom to make it look like swiss cheese. In addition the outdrive was eaten up with electrolysis. So I am once again in the market.

Unfortunately, the sorrento 25 had rotted engine stringers although the engine didnt budge on stress. Then we took it out of the water and the surveyor found the hull to be riddled with blisters. In his opinion and mine, that boat had more water in it than lake lanier. With the 454 engine in it, that boat should have popped up on plane like a cork. Instead it was very slow to get up on plane and at 3000 rpm the boat per gps was doing 13 mph. In addition, the outdrive was eaten away from electrolysis. All in all a very dissapointing day but sure glade I spent the money on a surveyor.

That sucks! You'll find the right one eventually
