Hello all,
Me and my girlfried just purchased a 1989 Sea Ray Sundancer 220 DA. We have had it out multiple times and have had no issues, however this weekend we wanted to stay on the boat and said lets fill the fresh water up and get the boat pumped out. So got the fresh water tank filled and went to get the waste water pumped out and realized that there was a hose that was in the head and was not connected so unable to get tank pumped out. No biggie we continue on with our weekend. Well on Sunday we coved out for a little while and my son spotted water in the cabin so I was very surprised and headed back to the dock by time we got back to dock the water level went down in the cabin, and realized that the bilge was not working, I opened the engine bay seen some water in there, which since we have had the boat was the very first time I had ever seen any water in the engine bay flipped on the bilge didn't work. I noticed a yellow lever which I turned and water began to flow from a garden hose connected to the bilge pump and then the pump start working with water only coming out of the starboard side. We had to leave so I turned the battery to number one position and thought I left bilge pump on put I didn't. So when I went back to the boat to check on it on Monday there was no more water than what was left in there which make be believe that the waste tanks are over flowing I am kinda of lost at this point and any input would be greatly appreciated. I don't believe there are any issues with hull integrity otherwise the boat would proably be sitting in the bottom of the dock, and like I said until we added water to fresh water tank we never had this issue. Thank for looking.

Have to wonder is there is a holding tank in a 220. Usually these have an oversize porta-pottie. It is part of the toilet base. It is possible you overfilled the water tank but usually that would come out the fill point or a vent. Step one is to trace the hoses and make sure all clamps are tight, and you know where they go sanitary and water lines. The yellow lever sounds odd. Is it electrical or a valve? If you have any through hull fittings, check for leaks. Through hull valves (seacocks) allow waste to be discharged overboard and often have yellow handles. Seacock require maintenance and can leak and let water into your boat. Check your bilge pump float switch by lifting it. Should turn on. If it does, but does not from the helm, probably a poor connection or switch. You should get this figured out before going out again. Overfilling tank may be wishful thinking.

Our 220 DA doesn't have a holding tank. as andyr said. Just the porta potties holding tank. The hose connection to that can be used to suck out tank or with macerator pump.Overboard Waste discharge lever is located on starboard side in front of engine.
