It looks like I am going to be the proud owner of a 1988 268 Weekender. The boat took a good survey in 2010 and has been at the marina I work at ever since. We have done some service on it and it seems to run well and after poking (with a pick) around in the bilge, there does not appear to be any moisture issues.
It will come out of the water this week and have a compression test done.
I read the review by Pascoe and though the deck being held up by the windows is somewhat disconcerting, I don't foresee my wife and I being on it enough to mess up the windows.
The boat has about 600 hours on a 330HP big block with the Alpha (mismatch but I don't beat on my boats so should be OK).
I am getting it for 5000.00 and it includes a newer dual axle Eagle trailer.
I think as long as the compression is good I will be getting a good deal. The interior of the cabin looks like it has never been used.
I will be upgrading from a 83 22.5 Express Cruiser and am looking forward to having the extra cabin space.
Anything I should specifically be looking for before I pull the trigger?
Thanks,
Dan
