:smt021Has anyone tried having the sink & bath redone, to change colors ? I have a light green color, like a mint green.
A date 80's color. I would like to go back either solid white or black. I noticed once i stripped everything around this area that the sink, actually goes through the wall and connects to the bath area. I thought about cutting the sink fron the wall, but structually that might mess something up. I thought about chaging it to granite or something, is there anyone out there changed the sink or color out there ?

Any suggestions would be great, thanks Tom..!!!

Mine is fiberglass, so I would think that it could be painted. That would be a bit messy since its not easy to remove the sink. Could be done in place if properly masked and ventilated.

Being in such a small area, spraying the top would probably make more of a mess,, any other suggestions ?

Thanks

Tom

You could paint it with the brush and tip method using a 2 part polyurethane. Check Jamestown or West. The sink in the 270 is all one part with the body of the head. You can take the bulkhead of the galley and head out pretty easy. This will expose the entire surface to you. Just make sure you clean and prep the surface well. But yes very easy and do-able.

In the photo.

Take all points loose.
Along the left head door trim remove and expose the fasteners. then Remove the overhead cabinet. then the trim on the galley stowage locker. this should revile all the bulkhead fasteners. Then, pull the bulkhead out to you into the gallery. this will expose the entire area you want to paint.

I think you should paint it too. My mom painted a formica counter top a while ago with some special paint and it still looks great, even under daily use. I'm sure you can find a paint to brush on that would work with the fiberglass sink.

Thanks for the info and the brush and tip method, did you use this method on yours ? Can you send me some picks on how it turned out ?

Thanks

Tom:thumbsup:

No, Mine did not need it. This is a video link that shows the method. When done properly it looks to be sprayed on. This video is a water based paint. For the counter top you want to use a 2 part poly.
