I grew up on a 1990 270DA which is the 290 in 92. We looked at the 87 models which we loved. The extra 1ft beam was really nice but the newer updates and the fact it was brand new for the seller. I personally like the 87-89 models better myself. The classic lines and wider beam plus twin engine. Some 290's have twins but it is a tight fit to work on. The layout downstairs on the 270 I liked alot better. However if you moved to the 89-93 280-300 it has the same layout twins and over 10' beam with the updated style. Hope this doesn't make the decision harder. This is the reason I can't keep a boat long cause I like so many different features on different models. Also we were a family of four on that boat from age 12-16. Every weekend every vacation spent on it with plenty of room.

I tend to agree with Dustin. Wider is better. Love the classic lines of the 270 and interior layout is nice. If you can find a nice one, I think it would be a good way to go. For what they are bringing now, you get a whole lotta boat for not a ton of money. V6 or V8 power is great in these boats.
Good luck with the search!

They are pretty much the same length maybe a few inches of difference. Since you already have the 270 I wouldn't personally trade up for a newer version. It seems you have more room down due to the layout over the 290. I like the twins option in case of issues out of the slip you still have one under power. Both boats IMO are great family boats. I almost bought an 85 in pristine condition but ended up with the 350. To do it all over again I would love to have a 310 or 330 express. I have way to much boat for just me myself and I. If you are happy with the one you have I would stay there cause it is a great boat.

Sorry Phoenix, I should have read closer. Since you already have the 270, in my opinion I would keep what I got and maybe upgrade a few things on the 270. I looked at 290's and 270's before I found my 300. Much preferred the 270's. Just feels like a whole lot more boat. It's that extra beam. Always fun to look though!

If I needed twins...the 1990 280 is a great boat and the best of both worlds. For a single, the 1990 270 is perfect for us. I would love to add a Bravo III and bump the power to 365hp if I ever have to replace the 330hp. I doubt 35hp would make that big of difference but the BIII would be sweet, Mike.
