Good afternoon, I am considering a purchase of a 1987 340 EC. It is extremely clean and has 260 original hours. Everything appears to match those numbers. Maintenance has been kept up to date. Asking $29k at dealer. Dealer is going through all mechanical systems and tuning up mains as well as gen set. Any thoughts would be appreciated as it is a very clean fresh water only boat and will not last long. I have an appt to take it out tomorrow. Thanks in advance. John

Very cool boat but 260 original hours on a 29 year old boat? That is a bit of a red flag to investigate.

Which engine package? FWC or Raw? GenSet? Up to date electronics? What else can you tell us about her?

My 88 has 1600 hours on her twins.

It has the twin 454 direct drives. It has the Westerbeke gen set with 159 hours. All engine and gen set paint looks to be correct for years and use. It has always been a fresh water boat and is FWC. The canvas and glass are all in great shape. The upholstery is original except
for the dinette which was updated. They also installed a wine fridge where the ice maker was. The dealer is also repackaged the prop shafts before delivery. The gel coat and rub rail seem to support the little usage. The boat was surveyed in 2010 and had 180
hours on it then and was valued at $40k. No defects were noted and excellent condition noted.

Survey. Survey. Survey.

29k is on the very high end for that boat. It may be worth it the survey checks out really well.

Went and looked at the boat again. Took it out for a cruise. Runs out well. Closer look at the topside and found out it has been painted. Some of the paint is coming off. What are your thoughts? Hull is shiny and original. Going to haul
out tomorrow to check the bottom. Thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

Looks like an after market swim platform. The hours do seem low for an 87 but who knows.....
Please get the survey and if all is perfect, throw 25k at the dealer -that puts you in the ball park of most of the similar boats on boattrader
With some of the upgrades, low hours and canvas in good shape, she might be worth 29 to someone, but in this market, you should be able to get it for less.

Make sure that any purchase agreement that you get into has something like 'contingent upon survey and sea trial with results acceptable to buyer'. Give yourself some leverage.

Good luck and if you do get her, this is where your info lives:
