Hello.
brand new to this forum.

purchased a 1987 270 amberjack last year for $1900 (steal). only had to do a few repairs to an outdrive and a tune up. used it all last year and realized that steering straight at slow speeds was hard with waves over 2 feet.

looking to add an autopilot to for fishing/trolling on Lake Michigan.

was really interested in the Raymarine EV-100 autopilot due to the price and ease of use and installation.

but, i can't find any documentation on the steering system of my boat. (currently winterized and shrink wrapped).

would anyone out there know if the pump that comes with the EV-100 will work on my boat?

thank you!!

You are most certainly going to have cable steering on that boat, so no, the EV100, or any hydraulic autopilot, isn't going to work as it sits. You can convert to hydraulic steering for about $1000 if you do the work, or buy an Octopus drive to actuate the existing cable steering. Either way you'd be looking at the EV200 system, the 100 is going to be undersized for your boat.

I converted my 85 300DA to hydraulic steering and installed the EV200 system with Type 1 pump. It works fantastic and would be happy to give you more details on my system.
