I have a 1987 300 DA and I cannot find the personnel capacity plaque on the boat anywhere nor can I find the capacity in the owner’s manual. Can anyone tell me what the capacity is and where the plaque is supposed to be located?

I think I may have just found my answer. Because it is considered a Yacht by definition, there is no seating or personnel capacity.

Thanks
Jeff

Boats are considered as a Yacht over 26 feet in length as certified through participating NMMA Organization and therefor no weight or max people capacity plate is required. My last 23 foot Wellcraft had a plate with max capacity both in numbers and weight, so I don' believe 20 foot has anything to do with it.

A manufacturer participating in this program must certify all models under 26 feet in length (except boats built and advertised as intended for racing) as fitted with all factory supplied equipment on a model year basis. BIA's thirty year old boat capacity rating program is incorporated into certification covering load and horsepower capacity and flotation.A manufacturer participating in this program must certify all models under 26 feet in length (except boats built and advertised as intended for racing) as fitted with all factory supplied equipment on a model year basis. I was referring to legal requirements- only vessels under 20' are REQUIRED under the law to have the placard.

NMMA is, of course, a voluntary trade organization and their requirements for membership may differ widely (including more stringent requirements) than what is required under the law.

As far as the definition of "Yacht"...well, there's a lot of threads on this already. To each their own. I consider my 39 too small to be called a "Yacht", and I think that if someone referred to their 26 footer as a "Yacht" around the docks it might raise an eyebrow or two...
