Hello everyone new to the group just launched my 454 alpha 1 searay after installing a new leg. I went with aftermarket se 106 bought it online at a great price. Would have prefered to switch to a bravo but the cost was just too high for this old boat. I think it should be ok if I behave coming out of the hole. This is a new boat for me my last boat was 32' trawler style V drive with izuzu diesel 7 knot cruise at 1.5 gph 11 ton great boat but took forever to go anywhere.

Hello I have the same boat only blue I picked mine up about 3 weeks ago I am in Illinois so the weather is unpredictable this time of the year so I winterized it as soon as I got it home. I am hoping to have a lot of good times next summer. So welcome aboard.

Welcome !

We have a 270DA with a pair of SEI outdrives and have been real happy for three hard seasons now.
Running 185 hp v6's so not as much hp behind them as you but they are pushing alot of weight.
Same thoughts, half the price, less than a complete rebuild and 3 year unconditional warranty.
I think a good plan with an older boat.
For hopefully a long time of trouble free boating - be sure to follow the break-in procedures with speeds and fluid changes.

Enjoy it !!!!!!!!

Try to find a torque/rpm graph for your motor. Find the RPM level on the graph where the torque output exceeds the rating for the SEI leg. Keep your rpm's below that level, and you will be fine.
