@Jimmy Bouy I have never been a big fan of v-drives myself and I'm even less enthusiastic about sterndrives. I know plenty of people have them and like them, but I don't like the maintenance that they require. But I know that even though outdrives break, so do inboard transmissions, v-drives, shaft logs, etc, so I guess it just comes down to preference.

To me, v-drives and sterndrives especially are a major violation of the KISS principal. My parents have a Bayliner 3788 with the same power plant setup that you have, and it has survived just about everything that has been thrown at it, including an inadvertent "clutch dump" at 4000+rpm on one of the engines (driver confused shift and throttle, was NOT me :smt013) so I am definitely a believer in good old inboards!
