1983 srv260sxl

Yup, I've owned two 1981's both with twin 350's LOVEM...

My last boat was a 1982 260 SXL, great boat and rather rare, only about 1500 made from 1981 to 1983, very few with twin v-8s.

I've seen them with single's, one with twin 305's but just my two with with twin 350's. two I saw had barrel seats helm&companion, one had higher bow rails and windshield. They are definately scarce boats thou.Bought my first one in the mid 80's ,sold it in the mid 90's to down size to a 22 cuddy. started missing the sxl. Found my current one bout six years ago in a warehouse down by Metro Airport were it had been sitting for nine years with the starb. mtr. out of it. My two were only one serial # apart.(go figure).

26sxl, what does the line in your sig mean "drop down bolsters"? My boat had a Miami Vice like low grab rail, I made a custom high rail for safety. I think they all had the barrel seats from the factory. Mine looked almost identical to the sales brochure from back in the day. I'd post it if I knew how, has all the specs on it too. My boat was fairly fast with a single 260 OMC, yours with twins should FLY! I wouldn't want to be the one to change the inboard sets of plugs though.

SCORPIO,my seats are just like regular bolsters that the bottom drops out but it has a horseshoe like brace that you have to take out to drop the bottom part ,the back goes to the floor that also has a fold down seat that faces aft. It is all factory for sure. I never put the bottom up I always stand. Both seats are like that. Both boats I've had were exactly the same. Plugs are not to bad to change.Boats run 55 to 60 depending on cond. Don't do it often but its fun when I do.

SCORPIO,you might be right on the barrel seat thing for 82 & 83. My 81 is really called a Vanguard XL ,It's just easy for me to say SXL because they are about all the same anyway.(lookswise) I see what you changed to and thats what I've been thinking about as I get older (windlass, genny,ac&heat, walkthru transom,a real head)I've spent ALOT of 2,3,4 nights on my boat and I do love it BUT the previous mentioned amenity"s would be nice...(carry on)

I have a 1983 SRV 260 SXL. I bought it about 15 months ago and have been slowly putting it back together. The starboard engine needed to be replaced and that then brought on a host of other projects. My boat is a twin 228 HP Meercruiser setup. It has the rear lounge with the two bucket/barrel seats on pedestals up front. I realize this post is 4 years past the last post on this thread, but I am hoping someone else with an '82 or '83 260SXL can share photos of the rear lounge setup. One of the prior owners of my boat made some hokey changes to how the seat back interlocks with the supports for the rear access pads that raise up behind the rear seat.

Once I finish with my rehab of this boat, I will post pictures. If any of you can help out, I'd appreciate it.

Not sure I understan what you need but I'll try to help. I no longer have the boat but I have some pics someplace as well as some factory color brochures.
My rear lounge seat had two large square cushions that slid over the engine compartment and under the upper wrap around seat back. That section was bolted to the inside gunwale area and also bolted to the support cross member for the padded storage area. That storage area was a fiberglass tub screwed into a wooden frame by a large number of ss screws. It had a decraguard grid scewed on top of it and then the pad was attached along the back of the gunwale with a piano hinge.
