New to the board but have been reading posts. Great info.

I am redoing this boat and have two questions:

1) Where can you buy the weather/channel stripping that sets into the window frame?

2) I am replacing the engine and need a remanufactured 350. I have found many remanufactured at different prices; from $850 to $2,000. Can anyone recommend a good/reputable vendor at a good price?

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve,

Welcome.

First, place your boat information in your signature block.

You can also do a search on windows and most likley can find the information. I actually am in the process of doing the same thing.

If you are talking about the side windows, the seal is called a "flock" and you can get it from Tayor Made. It is expensive: $5.08 a foot. They have diagrams you can refer too. I called customer service and they were very helpful, oh did I say expensive........

Here is the website: http://www.taylormarine.com/

As far as your engine.......Most I have found are in the 6-8K range.

Jasper is a good reman. co. with a warranty. The marina's in my area has had exc. luck with them...

Hi Anacapafish, That paint made a big difference. Looks great! I have the same style doors on my 260ex. You have got me thinking...

It made a HUGE difference, alot of teak on these older Rays, but well worth it. Cabot is what I used. Goes on nicely. When I figure out how to post multiple pics, I'll show the project from start to finish. Maybe photobucket or something. This project has been a blast.

Anacapfish,

Looks great. Couple of comments. 1) best way to post pix is to get a free photobucket.com account. Upload your pictures there. Then there is a feature on the photobucket page where you copy the IMG tag. This is then pasted into your CSR post. Like this:

P1010034-1.jpg

The advantage is that photo storage space is limited on CSR and by using photobucket you can post pix that are large enough for us old codgers to see.

Second point is that it looks like there is bottom paint right up to the transom ring. If so that is a bad thing. Bottom paints can lead to accelerated corrosion of the strendrive when the two come in contact. The thing would be to sand the bottom paint off a 1" strip all around the transom ring. That way the outdrive is isolated from the bottom paint.
