The anchor hatch plywood on the 1982 210 Cuddy had gotten soft from years of use. I had covered it in fiberglass several years ago but that only lasted about 3 years. I bought a piece of Starboard in 'eggshell'. Almond would have been a better match but it looks okay. I am pleased. Need to wash the boat and oil the teak.

I will get her out from under cover, cleaned up and on the water, time will tell if the mismatch in color is enough to bother me.

Reused all the original teak trim and hardware, hinge and latch. Some pics of the old and the new here;

Nice job on the hatch kybishop. The color is dead on for the hatch. The hatches on my boat are original and they are white and the boat is more of an almond color. When you teak oil the teak wood take it off the boat and give it a light sanding before you oil. I bought a can of Minwax teak oil at walmart and followed the instructions on the can. You just brush on one heavy coat let it sit for about 5 minutes then wipe it off until it looks dry. Do a second coat the same way, don't let it set too long as wiping it off becomes like trying to wipe syrup off a table with a dry cloth. Let it dry overnight and reinstall the next morning. Worked great and looks great. If you get teak oil on the gel-coat the only way I know to clean it off is to sand the gel-coat and re-polish. Some on this site may recommend a high quality teak oil, but I've use both and the Minwax teak oil seems just as good and is only $10 a can. Post some more photos of the teak work.

Cheers

hey kybishop, I just noticed that it appears that your hatch is on backwards. Mine opens from the front and folds out of the way while messing with the anchor. I think there is a photo in one of my albums that shows this.

Thanks for the replies Metabo.

That is the way the anchor hatch is mounted on the Cuddy's it appears (you did make me look at the brochures though ;) ) Looks like some of the smaller models mounted them with the hinge forward. Looks like the hinge is towards the stern on a lot of the larger models. Not sure the reasons for this but appreciate you mentioning it. The cuddy hasn't been altered though, the hinge mounts to an original piece of teak on the forward deck. The eggshell color will probably be okay I think.

I am also redoing the cuddy access hatch. Just primed sanded and repainted it. Will put new seals on it too and install it in the next day or two. It is still in real good shape other than the surface needing painting.

Nice looking hardtop you have by the way.

More pictures of the cuddy are here; http://s998.photobucket.com/user/kybishop/library/1982 Searay 210 Cuddy?sort=3&page=1

Wow, that's a well kept boat. Looks like all you need to do is clean up that teak wood. Thanks for the pictures.

Cheers

Thanks. I didn't get it out on the water at all last year. Haven't made it yet this year either. Major home renovations among other things at the moment. Hope to get it out in the next few weeks. Need to clean her up and wax her. Was able to wash and wax the hull last year but didn't get the top side that was under cover. Needs it bad...
