Unfortunately both of the plastic window keepers on my side wing window broke off and during tow the window swung open. When I went to shut the window when we stopped, the window fell off in my hand! I am just glad it didn't fall out when I was driving. I tried to re-install the window last week and I could not get the window to fit back in the frame. Has anyone installed one of these windows?

Here is a picture of the window. The window opens backwards and the green arrow is where the window fits in the frame.

If you try to push the window back into the frame it will not fit back in. Is there a trick to getting these windows back in?
I am hoping the window doesn't need to be slid into the frame from the top because all my window molding is very brittle and I am sure it will break if I have to pull the window outward.

Thanx in advance for any suggestions,
Robert

If it is anything like the center vent window on my 270, it slides into a grooved piece that is attached to the frame. It appeared on mine that the window was held in the groove with some adhesive caulk such as silicone or similar sealant. I cleaned the groove thoroughly with acetone and also the edge of the glass where it would make contact with the groove, then laid a nice bead of silicone in the groove and started the window at one end of the groove and worked into the groove until it was seated and silicone was oozing out on both sides of the channel. Cleaned up the excess silicone with acetone and let cure for a couple days before operating the window. It's been fine since. Not the same window, but hope this may help.

Thank you very much for the reply! Yeah what you are describing sound exactly like my wing window. I was figuring it slid in but I wanted to be sure before I started trying to pull the window frame out, just to find out it goes in another way. I am not sure how I am gonna get the window to pull out enough to get the wing in without breaking the window molding. 35 years of sunshine works wonders for most plastic parts. :(

Is there a place that sells similar window molding just in case it breaks?

Thanx again,
Robert

I know this is an old thread, but did you get it fixed? I had the same thing happen while underway but managed to get the window back in. My rubber is shot and I cannot find a replacement anywhere. I've contacted at least 10 different companies. I was wondering if you replaced the rubber or glazing on your glass yet. I have the 78 240 SRV and the seals are long gone.
