I am just about to start buying the exhaust parts to fix my screw up from last winter. I did the math to figure out the total cost of all the old style log manifold parts and found it was only a little less money then the upgrade to center riser kit.

Has anyone done this upgrade? They say it is a better performing system and I am always for upgrading when replacing parts providing it is not a hassle or a can of worms.

Also, does anyone know if the 1979 SRV 240 came with a 3 inch or 4 inch Y pipe?

Thanks in advance for an advise or help,

Robert

If the price difference is minimal between replacing the log style to the center riser, you may be happier with the center riser conversion-cleaner installation and more efficient in moving the exhaust. If you are interested in an "all in one kit", look at GLM- they have a complete kit with everything neccesary to convert from log to center riser. There may be other kits that do the same, this is the one I have experience with. Another option may be to research and source the conversion to center rise by collecting all the needed pieces individually. As Ididntdoit suggests I will go to a dry joint setup, eliminating some potential gasket issues when the time comes to replace my manifolds. When I repowered/rebuilt my 195, I needed an all new exhaust system so it was an easy decision. I also went to fresh water cooling due to operating in a mostly salt water environment, so adapting that to the center riser system was an easier task as well.
