Hi all- In 1995 I bought a 1979 SRV240 Searay. The old 305 small block chevy just wouldnt push her so I put in a brand new 1997 350 Chevy at a cost of $3500 which bumped it up to 260 HP. I put in a new drive shaft, new lower unit, etc. I redid the upholstery in the cuddy. Unfortunately, I sold my boat slip on the St. Croix and now have it parked in my backyard. At least last year, I didnt want to spend the gas to take it to Minnetonka. But with the gas prices down, I am thinking about keeping it. I say this because I have been offered $4000 for it from a couple of people. I laugh and say I have put in over $15000 into this boat and no way. I was almost scammed by a boat broker who told me that there are people who are willing to pay $12,000 now for it. I really dont think it is worth that but I know it is worth more than $4000. The nada and edmunds guides tell me it is only worth $3500 but I was always told that marine is worth more. I am inclined to fix it up that is new carpet with rebuilt seats, buff and polish, pull off all the trim, stain etc. Then I think I could get more for it by taking it to a broker on the river where I bought it. This boat is my pride and joy. Ok does anyone think I should keep this boat and fix it up or should I take my $4000 and run. The new motor has maybe 50 hours on it.
