1979 Sea Ray - Sundancer

Hi. I need to build a forward hatch cover for the V-Berth area on a 1979, Sea Ray, Sundancer. The only problem is that I don't know what the old one looked like (since the previous owner had already made a bad attempt at making one).

Does anyone know where I could find one OR have a picture/dimensions of an existing one ??? If I at least had the dimensions, I could build one.

Please advise . . . . :?

Hi, I have a 1979 Sundancer also, 26. My forward hatch is made of frosted acrylic, about 3/4 inch thick. Approximately 3/4 inch inside is a groove that appears to have been routed about half inch width. 1/8 inch deep. It sits on a aluminum extruded channel. When I get a chance I will photograph it and place on here.

I just di that on my 1980 SRV225. I used roughly 1" wide by 3/4" tall teak and made a frame that was about 1/2" wider all round the aluminum frame in the boat.

I got new 3/4" clear plastic (tinted outside lucite I think) and screwed it on to the frame and then marked where the hatch frame touched the teak. I routed out a channel where I glued a neoprene gasket and added back my hatch dogs and support.

Looks great, lets nice light in is almost completely water tight and cost about $125 to do. The older SRV's have a bit of teak on them and this fits right in.

Now I have to do the forward anchor well cover which I will again frame in teak but obviously not use clear plastic, maybe that white composite stuff with a teak trim piece around the edge.
