1979 Sedan Cruiser new pics 12-08

Just thought i would post a couple of pics of my restored cruiser. To me, it is more of a pilothouse design, but Sea Ray called it a Sedan Cruiser.

Great boats. You don't get anywhere near that kind of room on a 24 footer these days.

Always loved those boats. I remember sea trialing one with the parents when I was a kid, but it was the smaller (22'?) version, yellow, with a 233. We ended up with a 240 SDB.

neat looking boat.

captain, do you have some more details of your refurb and some more pix?

The pics are too big to post here. Send me your email and I can send you quite a few.

Refurb entailed:

New Marine Power engine, upgraded to 260 hp 350 cu.in. V-8 from the original 305 cu.in 228 hp. Now has 0149.8 hours.

Upgraded to elec fuel pump in 2007

Replaced original outdrive with Alpha 1 w/ SS prop to handle the extra torque.

Custom removeable transom seating w/ white pleated marine vinyl.

New carpet, upholstery, and cushions in v-berth.

New white upholstered captain's and mate's chairs.

New Quicksilver 3000 throttle/shifter

New smoked lexan hatch in v-berth.

New AM/FM/CD in 2008.

Great boat! Did you come across any bad spots while doing your restoration? Am looking for similar year boat but with flybridge. Any areas I and/or surveyor should pay special attention to?

I didn't do the refurb myself, the two previous owners did. All I did was install the new am/fm/cd and the new VHF.

i cant see any of the pictures? i am about to restore a 79 sea ray as well. i would love to see some pictures of your restore process.

Joe

It has a stainless Quicksilver mirage prop, not sure of the size. I will check it out and post it.

One of these old hardtop SRs is sitting on a boat lift across the lake from my house. The guy fishes it on Lake Michigan. Great for that application as you can stay warm in the Spring time when the water temp is 40 degrees.
