1976 Sea Ray SVR 220 Overnighter

Found a picture Hope this come through. I am new at this.

I would like to see a picture of your overnighter if you don't mind. It did not come through on this end. I also have a 1976 Overnighter and would love to swap info.

I think that it is a "351 Ford Windsor". Or, it could be a "351 Ford Cleveland". How do you know the difference? What is the difference?

windsor is a small block like a 302
the cleveland is a big block style...easiest way to tell the difference is the valve covers

Guys... the original post is from 2009. :smt001

That's alright. Might as well continue your engine discussion, though. I doubt the OP will mind!

Here is my new toy...1976 Overnighter. 351 Cleveland engine I think. I see the place where the double stripes went along the hull of the boat as well as the word "Kingfish" along the front left and right as well as the back of the boat. Does anybody know if these boats came with names on them from the beginning or was this added by someone later? It looks very professional like it could have come from the factory. I have never seen another yellow and white overnighter yet. Would love to see a picture of another one for reference.

Hi, No this boat would not have had any type of name on it. The stripes on a 1976 yellow hull would have been black. The top would have been 3/4 inch and the the bottom one approx 2 inches. They would run just above the spray rail then long the water line all the way back. The stripes would contiue across the stern as well. That was discontinued in 1978 or 79. Hope this helps! We had a 220 Overnighter brand new in 1977. Loved that boat! Had the 233HP Mercruiser (351 block) and would top out just about 40 mph. Learned to ski behind it. The wake was huge!

Thank you so much for the information!! Love your boat... Do you know if the bimini top for my 76' is available anywhere or am I looking at something to retrofit? The boat also has snaps all around; I am assuming this is for a fabric or vinyl weather cover. I saw another boat with something that looked home made but I have nothing to compare it to. Do you have pictures of your 77' bimini top?

you would be best served at a local Marine trim shop for top material
custom is the best and least frustrating way to go on our oldies
they will put in snaps in the material to match the snaps on your hull
rather than you adding snaps in the hull to match the fabric

I will look to see if the pictures I have of it show the camper top. It snapped across the back of the hardtop. and went all the way back over the engine hatch/bench seat across the back . It was attached with adjustable straps that went back just to the side of the teak taffrail that wraps around the back seat above the middle storage and the two built in coolers. Three pieces of enclosure zipped to the camper top and snapped all the way around just below the same teak taffrail As was said by moparlvr, a good canvas shop will be able to see what would have been there by looking at the snaps for the enclosure. It worked really well and we spent the night aboard in late fall with the enclosure snapped in and were very comfortable.

This is a 1977 22' hardtop. I had the new bimini/camper top made for it. Cost was $1600.00

I don't know if anyone still needs pictures of the original camper top (bimini) that Sea Ray made for the 77 srv 220 ov, but I have a ton of them. I took all kinds of shots to email to a vender to give me a bid on making a new one. If you like, I could send you the photos. I don't want to upload them to photobucket so PM me and I'll email them to you. I also still have the original camper top (bimini) anyone that wants it can have it just pay the shipping. I know this thread is from 2012, but what the heck, someone may still what this info.
