1970 Sea Ray Pachanga

What is the best way to go about selling a 1970 Pachanga? The boat belonged to my ex-husband who passed away unexpectely in February. This boat was his life! Completely restored, beautiful condition, I think I was told it has a 400 Chev engine? Need to sell to settle his estate for my son, but have no idea how to go about liquidating what I hear is a very collectible boat. Any ideas if there's a market for this type Sea Ray and if so, where?

Do you have any digital pictures of the boat? There may be some here (including me) that could be interested.

I will get pictures this weekend and post them by Monday so you can check it out.

While I realize if this is a "classified ad" to sell the boat, it probably doesn't belong in this particular forum, I originally posted to get an idea of where to even begin trying to market the boat. If you or someone else is interested in buying it, that's awesome. However, if you are not, any advice pointing me in the right direction of where to even begin selling a Pachanga would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Try to post pictures of the boat and a general idea of the price. Does it have a trailer with it? I'm on Long Island in NY and might have someone that is interested.

Sorry to learn of your loss. Hope that things are smoothing out now.

There is a classified forum here to advertise the boat. I'm sure there are several Sea Ray enthusiasts here that would love to have a Pachanga. Lots of pictures will help.

BoatUS has a site, http://www.boatus.com/, where you can look up values for the boat. They also have a classified, as well as a list of surveyors if that option helps to sell your boat.

eBay, like it or not, can give you a rough idea of the market price or at least what that audience is willing to pay. There are 4 on there now.

First you need to know exactly what you have so you can get a fair price. Did he keep receipts of the rebuild? This is where a survey may help give some baseline data. Or at least have a knowledgable friend or service man look it over so you know which motor, outdrive, etc, etc is there.

Good luck and let us know if you need more help.

Sharon:

First, my condolences on your loss.

Regarding the Pachanga, I can post some info, pictures, etc. if you would like on my website, http://www.searaypachanga.com (there is no charge to do that).

I own a 1970 model myself and my website (which is in the process of a dynamic upgrade) is dedicated to the 1969 to 1971 models.

It is very tough to place a value on these older boats. I have seen them range from less than $2,000 up to $16,000 depending on condition. I can tell you that Pachangas are very rare boats and some people are willing to pay a good price for one because of this. They are also very well made boats and handle wel. Your husband's boat sounds like it might be in the upper price range even if he did the work himself. Restoring any old boat is an expensive proposition... I know what I have into mine.

At any rate, all of us here will be better able to help once you post the additional info.

Regards,

Jack
