New member looking at a 1970 ? 1973 ? 18' pachanga needs restoration.
Does this boat have a hull id. #
the owner doesnt have a title for the boat or trailer, how hard is it to obtain the above.
how can you tell the year if it has a hid or even w/o the hid. Thanks, Rich

On boats produced prior to 1984 there was no convention on HIN numbering. Each manufacturer did his own thing. You will usually find a stamped plate with the serial number on either the interior of the transom or somewhere near the control station.

Absent a hull number and a title, my guess is that you need to ask your local titling authorities how to secure a lost title. How hard it is to go thru this process depends on the state you are in. I can't help since you don't give us a location.

I am not so sure they made the Pachanga that long ago. That may not be what it is.....
I would double check to see what the boat really is.

I could be wrong here but I think the Pachanga line started in '87 and ended in the early 90's.

Not only are you right but I actually owned one of these and didn't know it!
Mine was a '73. It didn't say Pachanga on it anywhere but was this exact same boat!

You'd better update your sign line with "Pachanga"! That's a whole lot cooler than just a 1973 Sea Ray closed bow!!

I would but I ran out of room as it is.
There is acutually a 1986 42 Chris Craft Sporfish with Detroits that I couldn't put on there.
I did a bit resto on it but sold it before it went in the water so I decided it didn't count.

My '73 was my first boat and it was a great boat. Closed bow, curved windshield, 165 Mercruiser, blue hull with a white deck. That boat was way ahead of it's time.
Ran 50+ with an aluminum prop.

Made a great first boat.

The original Pachanga is an incredible boat. It was made from 1969 to 1971. In all, there were about 450 produced. I would still have mine if my father didn't tell me to get the "damned" thing out of his yard...

They came one of two ways from the factory: either a sterndrive or a with a jet. The jet had a rooster tale that was unbelieable (I am told, never saw). My boat had a 350 with a drive. There were also several that were enhanced with a Holmann Moody built motor.

A windshield was available as an option, which mine had. Most have a one-piece engine hatch but some had a two piece hatch. They were available in three colors. I had "Sand" but Citrus and Avacado were also available. The center console with the gauges and the clean lines of the boat sold me.

Getting it on plane was interesting. Advance the throttle, wait for the bow to pop straight up, it would briefly stay in this position then the bow would drop and you were gone!

I hope to have another someday...

Thanks to all ! Now I am really excited :grin:I have the one with no winsheild.
can you tell me were to find the HIN # .
I dont know what yr. it is but I knew it was around 69 or 70 that they were produced.
Thanks again,
Rich
