So I was watching a TV show called "Chasing Classic cars". It's one of those "Wow, wouldn't it be nice" kind of shows to watch. Anyways, the host (Wayne) flew down to N.C. to see a '67 Ferrari 275 that was going to go to auction. He met the owner (who I didn't recognize) and I noticed the owner had a shirt with the "GW" Grady White crest on it. I thought, "OK, that's interesting". Then, the two of them went into a private airplane hangar and the door also had the "GW" crest on it. Now it peaked my interest. And then, Wayne called the guy by name... Eddie Smith. Well, what do you know - the owner of Grady White! Come to find out that Eddie Smith, Sr. originally bought the car and it has been sitting around for a while after his passing. Cool show, classy guy (Eddie, Jr.) and gorgeous car. Wouldn't it be nice?

Some history about how Eddie Smith, Sr. came to buy the car:

Here's a video clip from the Chasing Classic cars TV show, regarding the auction: http://velocity.discovery.com/tv-shows/chasing-classic-cars/videos/nart-spyder-auction.htm

In watching the TV show, Eddie Smith Jr. mentioned that he believes his dad originally bought the car for somewhere between $12K and $14K. It sold at auction for $27 million. Every single penny was donated to charities. Like I said... classy guy.

Woah, I can barely afford to be READING about all this. Can't imagine being allowed in there to bid. Good post, thanx.

I watch that program all the time and I made the Grady connection as well after doing my own research. (I probably like cars more than I do boats. )
