We are looking at a 1963 Sea ray 990. It has not been in water for about 6 years. It is in pretty good shape but will still need a lot of work. The person who has it does not know yet how much he wants for it and we have no idea how much to offer. It is around 17 foot with an outboard. Anyone know what this boat may be worth or have any info about this model boat?

We did look at the brochure for the boat. The owner has not decided yet what he wants for it. He wants us to find out what it is worth. I have been looking on line trying to find boats for sale that are similar but with no luck. I am wondering if there are any other boats of this specific type out there.

Here is a picture of the boat we are looking to buy.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. No more. No less. Make him an offer and let him decide which he wants more, the boat or your money.

BTW, never knew Sea Ray made a 99' boat.

It is a 17 foot boat. The model is a Sea Ray 990. I do not know what the 990 stands for but definately not the length!

My dad had one back in 1965, a 75 johnson was on it when he bought it,28 mph with 2 people in it . where in the one in the picture
It was listed a a 20 foot boat but they measure around thr bow cruve. Back in 63 that was the top of the line sea ray. Dads sold new for 5300.00 a lot of money back then

I will trade my 20' Wellcraft Step V, motor and trailer for this boat or pay any reasonable asking price, even a little more. Please let me know if interested at J6213@aol.com.

Nice boat! Starcraft (I'm an old Starcraft guy) made a similar model in the 60's as well, the Chieftain. I've never seen a Sea Ray like this one, but in looking at the brochure, it's way nicer than any Starcraft. If you feel the asking price is fair, then by all means grab it. When I buy a boat like this, I always figure in the cost of restoration at about $1K, depending on the motor condition, transom/stringers, paint goods, etc.

Who knows? But it is a cool boat. Looks like a ton of fun.

Think i saw one for sale in the craiglist a few weeks back listed in saginaw or flint.boat was located in midland area or gladwin something like that.

Please email me if anyone locates one of these boats. My dad had the Sea Ray 990 and prior to his death, he had sold it. When I attempted to buy it back from the purchaser, it was destroyed in a hurricane in the late 1990's in the Florida Keys (Marathon). I will pay a generous price to anyone deciding to sell one. It would bring me great memories and a sense of unity to my dad. All help is appreciated.

Just keep your eye on craigslist. I find many gems on there.
