While unloading my boat last night a bolt appeared in the rear walk through. I didn't think anything of it until I shut the right rear gull wing and heard a pop. I can feel through the bottom of the cushion that it was the bolt holding the support shock to the cushion. Before I attempt to cut into the bottom side of the cushion to reattach I don't notice a zipper or any other access - is there any on these type of cushions?

Hi Scott. Before you cut anything...

I wonder if it's in fact a screw from *inside* the cushion. I question this for two reasons:

1.) If it came from within the cushion, there'd be an exit point through the vinyl, right?

2.) I had a similar experience with my 2012 190 Sport - the strut for the transom walk-thru pad was loose and getting progressivly worse. The bottom of the strut which attaches to the hull had three screw holes - and the bottom hole was EMPTY - the screw had fallen out and resulted in a floppy strut attachment. I wonder if you're experiencing the same issue, based on my own experience in addition to what I mentioned above?

It was remedied by my dealer, who through-bolted a longer screw through the strut.

I had taken photos, but must have deleted them after trading the boat in.

Hope this information was helpful!

Took a look and I wasn't lucky enough to have it be an easy fix. My wife and I gently removed the staples until we could access the upper mount on the inside. Both screws had fallen out.

I also took a look at the other side and the upper support is also loose. When attempting to tighten they just keep spinning and you can't access the inside. Not really a fan of how this whole support system is mounted to the boat.

Also what am I doing wrong to not get these photos to show? I am using the img tags and linking to a public site. grrr

Well, that's a drag.

I'm no mechanical engineer, but I wonder if it could be remedied with *slightly* larger screws used in conjunction with something like Gorilla Glue?

A head's up on the 190 (based on my experience)...check all the (very small) screws used to keep all of the engine compartment panels in place, including those attached to the back of the seatback. When I sprayed out my ski locker last year and drained everything through the bilge/garboard drain, a ton of tiny screws flushed out. If I had checked those periodically for looseness, I could have tightened or glued them. It was no big deal, just wasn't on my radar.

(Other than my noticing the transom pad strut...)

I think that's really good advice. I put locktite on the bolts I put back in last night - I think I will do the same for all the other bolts. I know there is a lot of vibration going on back there.
