At MarineMax this weekend picking up oil and filter and was looking in showroom. Salesman came up to me and started talking and I told him I bought a 190 Sport from them several years ago. He said this was the last year of the 190 and it was being replaced by almost the exact same thing but it had a little bit wider beam, he did not remember the model number. Anyone else heard about this?

Looks like there will be a new line, "SPX" in 19 and 21 foot...inboard and outboard variants. Also, it doesn't appear to be "just about the same thing". A bit shorter, but a LOT wider, with a totally different seating configuration, transom walk-thru, and activity related option packages - i.e. ski/fish and wakeboard, etc.

Check the "new/updated sport boats for 2015" thread for pics...

Salesman said it was about 8" wider which is about what they added when they introduced the 190. Not sure I like the new model, will have to see that one in person to know or not, supposed to be one here pretty soon. Not sure they salesman had a real good grip on everything as he was surprised to hear I had a 220 mpi on the 190. I know all the ones they had for sale this year just had 190hp on them with aluminum props, but they were quite a bit less which is probably why they ordered them that way

The 190 wasn't longer or wider than the 185. I believe the 190 is the 185's hull with a new deck. The 190 has a 7'3" beam, and I think I read the SPX's is 8'6"?

Wow that would make it wider than the 205. What I meant by wider beam was compared to some competitors, not Sea Ray, my neighbor had a older Glastron and it was clearly wider. I recently saw a new model Glastron and they also widened so probably not the case anymore. More interesting will be the pricing.

Ah, now I understand. Back to beam, a lot of the 19 footers out there are wider than the 190 - Cobalt 200, Regal 1900. Both also happen to have the 'stadium' style seating configuration like the SPX.

If I started worrying about beam length next thing I know I would be buying a new SLX, LOL. Not being mean if I could afford it believe me I would have one they are fantastic looking boats and your setup NorCal is out of this world.

I didn't take it that way at all, we can tell you are a huge Sea Ray fan. Not only that but educated in what's out there besides Sea Ray to give meaningful comments and advice.
