Hey all.

Got married last June and boat hasn't gotten the use it deserves. Getting ready to sell it, just finished detailing it, now wanted to change the oil and make sure everything was running before listing it.

Went to crank it up with water hooked up, I get the beep as I turn the key but engine does not try to start.

I purchased a battery charger since I figured there was only enough juice the power the small electronics (hours clock, radio) and not the starter. Charged both batteries and still nothing when I turn the key.

I checked the wires and it appears everything is still hooked up.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Eric

Even though you charged the batteries, did you check the water? What type/brand charger?

A good first step is to verify all battery connections (and follow each cable to where it attaches) are clean and tight.

Another easy thing (maybe try this first) is to swap in the battery from your car.

Depending on what you find out, take the batteries to a local auto parts store and have them load tested.

May be a dumb question, because I don't know that boat, but does it have a kill switch/lanyard? Is that hooked properly? I had that problem on a Maxum years ago.

my guess is a faulty remote starter solenoid on top of the engine....you have the exact same symptoms i had when my solenoid went out....many others here have had the same issue with these solenoids failing...the good news is they are cheap and easy to replace.....do a forum search and you should be able to pull up several posts concering the remote starter solenoid...

Thanks for all the suggestions.

When starting the relay clicks but The engine doesn't try to turn over. I replaced the relay and same clicking from it. Both batteries full charged, even tried to jump start, no change. Any new ideas?

what relay did you replace? slave or solenoid

4.3 has the starter solenoid mounted to the starter, the cube sounds like the slave. using the bottom photo, use a jumper from the + battery to the yellow/red wire at the starter, that should make the starter work. If it does go to the slave and test again using the yellow/red wire there, if motor spins, check red/purple for 12V.System power comes thru the block fuse on the starter, to the 50A circuit breaker, then to the dash.Mignt need some pic of what you got.
