Just curious as to whether anyone here has added a remote oil filter for the 4.3 engine. At my 20 hour service, i did the oil change myself and became a contortionist with my arm. If I was gumby, I would have been fine, but my arms dont bend like that. LOL I think this would make maintenance a whole lot easier, but wanted to see how other have approached the task.

Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I have the 5.0L V8 and I'm getting ready to do the oil change and got to looking and it appears to be a pain in the butt. I called about the remote oil filter kit and was told it was $300.00. I found it on the internet for $233.00. Hopefully it will keep me from breaking my arm to do the oil change.

I had the same problem on my old '96 Rinker..
I found a remote oil filter kit on EBAY for $50.00..
It installed on the port riser, much like todays kit. I highly reccommend it. I know the feeling about getting under the port side and feeling like a contortionist. Luckily my new 230 has a remote.. It outa be std on all boats/makes/models......

SDL... I second that thought!!! I dont know why it isnt.... my old 1990 Sundancer has 1 of these on each engine and it makes things a whole lot simpler to change. I am guessing this boat is a "price point" model, but still....

Would anyone have the correct part # to accomplish this task? I am assuming I still must be a contortionist to even get in there to do the job. Are there any special tools or requirements to do the job myself?

Good luck. The $300 or whatever to change to a remote filter if you are doing changes yourself is so worth it. Ours came with remote filter, and man, it take 2 seconds to change the filter. It is right on top. Do it!
