Anybody on here install one on their 185 or 190?

SeaDek suggests creating a template which matches the textured surface pattern on the platform, which on a 185 and 190 is pretty busy and would require many small cut-outs. (I believe the 185 and 190 use the exact same platform extension.)

So, on the one hand the SeaDek guy on the phone tells me that best practice is to match the textured surface, but...the 'catalog' design they have for the 185 is one large piece. I get frustrated when a company is inconsistent in the information they provide.

Anyway, I'm on the fence about it. My template kit has arrived, but I' not especially motivated to get working on it...let alone spend the money.

If somebody can share their experience, let alone some pictures, I'd really appreciate it!

I thought about doing it until I read that it glues on. Just the thought of getting off the glue if I ever took it off....

Well, I took the color samples out to my boat, and...they don't match very well to the interior colors so it's a no-go for now...

We'll see if that changes as boredom sets in this winter! :smt001

Hey Sport,

Thanks for the link, but naw...can't see myself putting a carpet on my swim platform. However, you did help me realize that a color option would be to match the dark grey carpet. I had been trying to match it with the light grey vinyl on the sunpad, and it was too "off" for me.

Thanks again!

So did you ever end up purchasing from SeaDek? I am very interested in putting one of these on my 185 sport. Looks like they have one pre made so you wouldn't need the template. Seems kinda expensive though... I like the teak gray with a Sea Ray logo but it's about $400! I would like to see if we did a group buy like 8-10 people if they could give us all a discount, I have seen other forums where they have done 20% off for 8 or more... Let me know...

No, I haven't even made a template yet. To be honest, I'm on the fence and am looking into a few other enhancements which have bumped up into a higher position on my 'wish list'. (1) Swivel wakeboard racks, (2) retrofitting my bimini top to the 2013 model's design which doesn't have any forward straps which clip to the base of the windshield, and (3) putting alloy wheels on my trailer. On a side note, I contacted both SeaDek and Sea Ray about them working together to have the 190 added as a template (for those of us who don't want to screw it up!) and they both said NO.

Wow quite interesting... Isn't the 190 the same as the 185? If I get one I will let you know..

The attached swim platforms are identical, but the back end design of the 185 is vertical and offers a relatively larger (overall) platform. Post pics if you do it!

I just saw pics of the 190 and yeah the 185 does have that bigger platform extension area. Didn't know that... If I end up getting the SeaDek pad (I'm pretty sure I will) I will definitely post some pics! If anyone else has the SeaDek pad on a 185 please post pics!

I just placed my order for the swim platform pad for my 2011 185 sport. I did the gray and black teak with a logo and it was $420! Seems pretty expensive but hopefully its worth it. I saw a ton of these at my local boat show and they did look great. I tried every which way to get a discount but that was a no go. I was quite disappointed they wouldn't even go for a group discount. I said if I could get 10 or more people to order off the site here could they offer a group rate and they refused even though they have done this in the past for other groups. Seems like Seadek is large enough now where they don't need the business... Oh well. Worth a shot I guess. Anyway I will keep everyone posted on what happens moving forward! I expect to have this within 5 weeks or so! I can't wait!!!

Hotbirk, It would be great if you post some pics as you install the product as well as when its complete. I too have the '11 185S and I've been considering this same product but had some of the same concerns others have posted in this thread.

GL and hopefully all goes well.

i ordered some for my swim platform. i received it this winter and i'm waiting for better weather to install it.[It's snowing today, yeah Spring] One of our fellow boaters did their platform and steps with the teak look material. Great looking and they have dogs as well. Seems to hold up well. I think i paid $240 for a piece that is 20" x 12'.

So I just received a email with the proposed pad and I have to say it looks awesome! There is a option to have a piece of material sent out to me with the exact dimentions so I can dry fit the pad before they make the real one. This is a extra $10 plus shipping and would delay my pad about 2 weeks... However it's a good way to make sure this thing is going to fit like a glove. Once you get your pad it is unreturnable...

And you went with their template for the 185, right?

I'll be very intereted to see how you like it...

I'm thinking about doing it, but would have to use their template kit - which makes me nervous as I don't know how great of a job I'd do tracing it out.

If I pull the trigger, I'd likely go white-on-white as far as color - with the logo in the middle similar to their 185 template.

Still don't understand why they won't create a template for the 190. Makes no sense, as it seems to have replaced the 185 in Sea Ray's lineup?

Yes I used what they have and it measures out good. I wouldn't worry about drawing your own they can send you the drifit material in the exact same dimensions they are going to create for you so you can make sure its perfect before your order is finalized... The 190 has the same bottom portion of the swim platform as the 185 just the molded portion of the body is different. If you give me your email address I can forward the email to you with the drawings. Everything gets approved by you before you get the final product. Also the teak material is so so so much nicer than the basic material. I would do the gray and black teak or a dark brown and black teak on your boat...
