175 Sport

Our 2nd boat was a 1995 Sea Ray 175BR. It was a great boat, almost wish I still had it. The 3.0 4 cylinder engine was great on gas mileage. As for getting my fat butt up on one ski it was a struggle but I did get up. But tubing and 2 ski's it is a great boat for a small lake.

We used to get pounded when the water was rough but you should have no problem on smaller lakes.

Enjoy and welcome to the forum. A lot of great advice. If you do not know the rules of the road please look at your state's DNR web site. They should have boating manuals and a boating course. It is amazing how many boaters do not know the basic rules. Please do not take offense I am only saying this because you state "starting out."

I actually love the 175 sport that we purchased new in 2007. I do regret not going up a size or two because we are on the Chesapeake Bay which in windy conditions limits us to the river and we can not cruise to where my friends are on bigger boats without getting beat to death. With that being said, the price, gas consumption, and storage on the boat is a good deal for the price. Either way you can not go wrong with the 175 or 185. Good luck.
