What a total and complete farse! The latest with Climate-gate states that there has been no "significant" warming of the climate for over 15 years. What a joke. Between the scientists "losing/destroying data", sourcing facts from a single thesis paper or overtly lying about it, how do you believe anything they say? Worse yet, we let those clearly flawed facts/ideas affect our governmental policy. Being a boater, I am all about clean waters, abundant wildlife and fresh air but please spare me from all the tree hugger hype. It sickens me. I wish someone would realize that climate is cyclical; continents move, the earth's movement on its axis isnt constant at ~20deg., sunspots are variable. All affect climate people.... duh!

Whats next? Obama recently stated in a speech (and I'm paraphrasing) "Global warming is an accepted fact, so get over it". Based on what good science? Idealogy maybe, hard science...thats another story. Yet, we will purse these ideals like rabid dogs until someone stops them cold. I truly hope Cap & Trade dies a quick death, Carbon dioxide is reclassified as not being a pollutant but natural byproduct of breathing, and all the other crap being spewed around to control us because we "dont know enough to make our own decisions". Lets pray Nov 2010 comes in short order to quell some of the ideology being brought to bare in legislation or executive order.

Sorry for the rant, I am just venting. I just get so frustrated sometimes!

Actually, wouldn't it be great if they believed the crap they spew so much that they stopped emitting their own carbon dioxide by jumping off a cliff like lemmings? That would be a wonderful sight to behold!!!

Dreamer!

I didn't read it as a rant, rather well spoken words.

I am curious if you have any links or source for general info on your topics. It's a new area of fascination for me, and really don't have great sources.

While I think there is some gobal warning, it is not man made and is at a very small rate. The earth for million of years has gone though cycles due to rotation on its axis and atmospheric changes. What really chaps my ass is what the hell does the politicians like Al Gore and the rest of congress with their " shoe size IQ" have any thing to do with it.

Thirty... as for the sources of my info and opinions they are many and varied. I try to be fairly open minded and read alot. From the right, I look at Drudge, Breitbart, Real Clear politics, the hill, the factor and heck, even Glenn Beck (there I said his name.... OMG so shoot me) From the center - There seems to be nothing to read...LOL. Everyone seems to have some opinion of sorts. From the left, there used to be air america, msnbc, heck even huffington post and daily kos. I tend to lean very "right" but more on the conservative side (not progressive). I think I am more bottom line oriented and less the dreamer as I used to be. To be honest, most boaters I've met are repubs...

Ted, I agree with you 100%. Climate change comes in cycles, as witnessed by ice-ages, snowball earth, the dinosaur's warmer climate as well as many volcanic eruptions, meteric impacts etc... Nature has no agenda, its people who manipulate facts to fit their own idealogy that pisses me off. As to Al Gore.... I am not sure if he really believes that stuff or is in it for the money. He has in fact become very wealthy as a result of this "debate". How much of an "inconvenient truth" this must be to hear his movie can now me filed under the "Fiction" category. LOL

Eighteen million years ago Michigan was ice covered. Could someone help me to determine which SUV caused the ice to melt? Natural weather cycles. (That's not an SUV.)

There is a recient blogg;Try htt://directorglue.bl ogspot.com/201...1 mategate. I don't know how to paste things ,that's the best I can do to recreate the site address. MMGW has always been a hoax. Its all about increasing power at the federal gov. level. Most of the environmental stuff is in the same category. The movement is the new home of communist and socialist's and a vehicle for advancing their programs

Mark, while I cannot enter the rep-dem debate, (but I could tell you what I think of Italian politics) I can sure tell you that ancient Romans wore sandals, no socks and skirts and that we had snow last week here in Rome for the first time since 24 years!!!
What I can say it that too many people are trying to justify their wages or are just drawing votes from the "environment friendly" ones , but too often with zero knowledge... as for the dangerousness of CO2...
Do you know someone in UK scientifically proved that one cow emits as much CO2 as 80 cars????

Pietro, I think i heard that. That is hilarious. Maybe we should outlaw eating meat next. That way, no more mass production of cows, i.e. no global warming. I also heard that those same cows....(uh,not sure how to say it politely) FART, which is an enormous source of methane, another cause of warming. LOL. What is ironic timing is a town called Cambridge, near Harvard university has a newly created group "Cambridge Climate Congress" who is now advocating "meatless mondays". Ha...are you kidding me? Their goal is drastic change and more taxes to pay for these changes. Here's their rationale... "This proposal is made in the belief that an effective local response is, if anything, made more urgent by so far inadequate global agreements" Basically since everyone who has a brain has bailed out of the global summit in Copenhagen, they feel the need to keep going on their own and be a shining example of hope and change. Makes me sick.

On a different note, I read somewhere a while back that weather stations, which record daily temperatures were being placed fairly close to "heat islands" i.e. concrete structures which hold & radiate heat far differently than trees or grass. Granted, placement (from what i read) doesnt need to be right next to these structures to affect temps... In some cases, urban sprawl moved closer to these stations, affecting readings and were never moved. I really have to find out more about that and where I saw it... its bugging me.

Climate change? Yes has been changing for billions of years. Man made climate change? Are you kidding me????????

Yeah, more came out again today on it.... check out Drudge. Its funny how they changed the argument from "Global warming" to "Climate Change". Al Gore is a sly character along with the others who've been covering it up. Watch for them to try to save their skins by saying "not everyone agrees that this is over" we have to do more research to determine where we went wrong.... blah blah blah.... They have to try to keep their "grant money" so they can still work. Personally, I think this is a good thing, so real honest science can now progress a bit more without all of the idealogy clouding out facts.
