Yesterday when I left the boat after the weekend, I noticed that none of my 120 v outlets were working (I noticed it since the TV set was not working). Everything else connected to the 120 v main circuit is working properly(A/C, microwave, neon lignts, etc...). I played with the "outlets" breaker in the main panel but nothing changed. I did not had the time to fix the problem but I just opened up the main panel to see if there was any trace or "burned material" and everything was clean.

I guess that the outlets breaker is broken and I will have to change it, but I was wondering if there was a breaker reset that I did'nt located.

Sorry John, the GFI ?

GFI= Ground fault interrupter. aka the test/ reset button on the outlet. I also found out mine was in the head storage compartment.

It is a 120 vac outlet under the medicine cabinet, I think there is one near the sink in the galley as well, GFI - ground fault interuppter. Any time water is sensed around this outlet it will trip. There is a "test" and a "reset" button on the front of it. Press reset and if it clicks that means it was tripped. When you press test it will trip, other outlets may be on this circuit.

John

What a great source of information this forum is. Thank you John !

I just had someone go to the boat to verify this and you were right, it was tripped. All the outlets are now working properly.

Guess what...Now I remember that when I washed the boat yesterday, I left the head porthole opened... :smt101 :smt018

But I never knew there was an outlet under the medecine cabinet.

That GHI circuit has an added importance for the 300DA, it is also the 110V ac source for the cabin refrigerator. I found this out the hard way when I left the boat on shorepower and turned off the battery switches. The refrigerator had no power source once the head receptacle tripped and an entire refrigerator of food had to be tossed.

all the outlets are on that GFI circuit, with the exception of the fridge and usually the microwave because they draw too much.

When that GFI trips it protects all the outlets on that circuit- as you found out.

most boats (with cheaper refrigerators) have cfi (or gfci) protection on refrigerator too - usually is dedicated for refrigerator.
there is a reason for that - bare foot + wet carpet + refrigerator metal frame
boats refrigerators draw about 10-12A when start and gfci are rated 15 or 20A depends on model installed

I had the same problem on my 370. I finally swaped out the GFCI for a new one.

boatmail- you would have a hard time resetting the GFI, its behind the fridge. Most boats dont have it there because its on its own circuit.

I have taken out probably a dozen or so fridges from SRs and I have yet to see one plugged into a GFI

some models right under sink

We defrosted our refrigertor on wednesday. Emptied it out and let it dry out. Came back a few days later, cleaned it up and now it does not cool. The green light in the refrig comes on, the dash on/off switch for refrig does not light up when on, and the refrig does nothing... Any ideas???? Could it be a GFI switch? Are there fuses I should look for??

Have you tried re-setting the GFI reset button on the aft compartment outlet. Maybe a GFI in the head compartment somewhere?? Not sure which one of the 3 posts you are following

GFI's on the 370

I pwned one of these in my past life and I believe I had three GFI's in the 120 wiring setup.

Head Vanity

Galley under sink cabinet

Engine room 120V outlet

It would be a good idea to get the wiring diagrams for your 370 and find all the GFI's aboard. These devices should be tested monthly and occasionally will fail and require replacement. When 120v circuits do not work the breakers and GFI's are the first places to check.
