Ever since I purchased the boat the lock on the cabin door has never worked. The key turns but nothing locks. Figure the lock is broken. I never really cared, but now I have some expensive stuff in the cabin, and would prefer not to leave it unlocked at the marina.

Is this piece replaceable?

Thanks

I think you're supposed to slide the lock and turn the key at the same time to set it.

Yes.

Most lock/latch mechanisms are held in place by one phillips screw.

Look at part number 11 on page 22.

Thank you! found exactly what I needed with your info. Saved that PDF as well.

Maybe you are right. I will give it a shot next time I am at the dock

I struggled with mine on an 05 280DA. Had to turn the key all the way around counter clockwise and then turn back clockwise a half turn (slot horizontal) and pull the key out to lock it.

Also, to use the inside slide lock, I have to first turn the key one half turn counter clockwise and pull it out, (again the slot horizontal). If I don't do that first, the inside slide lock is frozen and will not move. Strange mechanism, I was going to replace it but finally figured out how to work it.

Yeah, it takes a bit to understand that lock. From what I gather, the reason for the complexity is to help avoid someone locking themselves inside the cabin. Meaning, to be able to lock the door from the inside, you first have to use the key to put the lock in the appropriate "setting". I never remember well enough as I rarely lock the cabin and usually have to play with it a bit to figure it out.

Thanks for the info everyone. After giving it another try I manged to figure out the lock. Saved $130. Win Win situation
