05-340SD Anchor Chain and Rode

I don't know, offhand. But, I'd be willing to be that whatever was standard probably wasn't sufficient. Don't buy it through a dealer, anyways... get your chain and rope yourself and size it based on anticipated needs.

It depends. How are you using the boat, what type of anchor you have, etc. No one standard would be right for all applications. IMHO - Dennis hit the nail on the head.

I don't think I've ever seen specs on this and I had never measured it with ruler. But, approximate measurements from what I've seen on number of boats are:

Chain: 15'-20'
Rode: 150'-200'

Chuck said the right thing, it depends. If you have doubts in standard configuration and planning to change it you need to consider the bottom conditions and depths you'll be boating/anchoring in. This will also help you to determine if the standard anchor is good enough for your needs.

I think the 2005 340DA uses a Lofrans Project 1000 windlass that accepts 5/16” High Test or BBB chain spliced to 9/16” or 5/8” 3-strand nylon rope.

I replaced my 2001 340DA 20' 5/16 chain, 150' 5/8 line with:
R/C Rode, 50' x 5/16"HT Chain spliced to 200' x 5/8" Line (http://www.ahoycaptain.com/shop/imtra_SPA-I2H50B.html)

Most of my anchoring is done in shallow areas that allow me to drop only chain, but it really depends on the type of conditions/depth/bottom you plan on anchoring in.

Thank you everyone!!!!!!! I am not planing on replacing just was wondering the length. I knew you guys would have it. Thanks Again

Oh, well in that case, if you're simply wondering what you have on your boat, the only real way to know is to pull it out and measure it. Especially if you haven't had the boat since new. Even then, I wouldn't guarantee every 340DA that came off the line had the same length.

PS: Signature.

By the way post a picture of you boat when you get a chance. I've never seen a 340SD I thought the largest was a 290SD. (Grin)
